Let's see your POV/ Driver's seat pics

Here’s a POV pic from the gig yesterday with the guy from The Voice. It was a fundraiser event for some fancy folks in Bakersfield. The gig was a blast and the 18 Thin Flat I’ve been blabbering on about here over my last several posts sounded fantastic. This was my highest volume/dynamic level gig so far with it and it handled my Ahead 5AB sticks with grace and aplomb!

My Starclassic W/B kit in Molten Brown burst , with cowbell clamped to a kick drum mic stand so I don’t have to clamp it to the wood hoop. I also had to replace the EMAD kick head and decided to save $20 and get a Remo Black Dot. I crumbled some newsprint and threw it in the front port and sounds pretty good.

Beautiful set up ! I am a bit biased though 😌 as mine is the BB 8,10,12,14,16 matching 6.5 snare if I’m not using the Supra, but kick is 22x18. Molten brown burst as well
. Paiste’s as well , 2002 16, 18 crashes, , 20 ride, 14 heavy hats. 16 sound reflections crash , zildjian 18 high china.

I keep forgetting to take a POV when kit is up. It’s been set up and boxed Lao many times due to work being done in the house. It goes back up in a couple weeks . Gotta remember to snap a pic or two .

I’ve got my little practice rig and drum room pretty much dialed in now. Just need to pull my Manhasset stand out of my storage locker, dust off my copy of Modern Reading Text, get it set up right there in front of my Ahead practice snare pad and I’ll be fully operational.

I’ve been working on left hand lead stuff lately. Nothing too crazy - just simple grooves and coordination exercises getting my hands doing things they’re not used to doing. Will probably incorporate the left hand lead thing into my reading practice as well.

If you zoom in a bit, you can see that Abby the Cat approves of the setup, as does Figgy Marley - the plant is some kind of mini-fig tree. I dunno, that’s a Mrs. RVC thing but it puts me in a good mood having it there.

The rest of the room is home to a bunch of black DW drums, all in Beato bags, ready to roll to whatever the next job is.

LOL, the seat is bigger than the drumset, I dig it!
I'm using a small practice pad as well, improves accuracy.

I'm the guitar player that just likes drums/drum talk...

Here is my kit, Ha!
-I actually use brushes on the 'Stick Control' book (sounds & feels good!)

- the Jazz drummer that is 'coaching me' on correct grip (I like the traditional), and execution of a quality full-stroke, gave me a pair of VF SD9 sticks, which are thicker and heavier than the 5A's, but they feel great. They seem to impart more mass/energy, right around the fulcrum area- helping me control my spazzy left hand!

( am still waiting to hookup with another drummer buddy, who has a used cheap snare for me)

I haven't been on here in a while, but thought i'd share this pic. Took my DR-80 rack with me to rehearsal last friday and seriously; why haven't i done this sooner. Makes setting up everything more easily since this is not my kit (cymbals are though). Have to finetune some things next time (ride more to the right and move the toms a tad more to the right).
Also added the 8" Fast Splash again and did i miss playing with 2 splashes. Am going to replace it with a Paiste 2002, but not sure if i want the 8" to compliment my 10" or to get the 12". I want a 19" 2002 crash and a 19" Rude Thin crash to replace the Zildjians and with those bigger sizes a 12" might fit better. But first getting the crashes and i'll figure out after that what i want haha.

I was scrolling through my pictures on my phone and came across this oddball tiny rig from about 5 years ago. I recall it sounding surprisingly good and was an interesting alternative to the suitcase rig I was running around the same time.

I added a little mic mount + a D112 to the bass box and also affixed a piezo pickup to the cajon snare. Can’t recall the name of the rectangular piece but it was made by Index Percussion (I think) and gave a reasonably believable closed hi-hat sound. 18” 60’s A Z with 3 rivets completed the scene.

Fun little setup!

I never played that old K 22 on the left but with the Dark Medium near mirroring it (one old one new) on the right; if it was an Emergency (no pun Tony) well I might
