Last time you referred to drumming as "playing the skins"?

Playing the tubs, playing the traps, hitting the skins, ... playing your "axe" ( whether it be a guitar or a horn) ..... I suspect it stems from the Jazz Age, when musicians and music fans were expected to use hip lingo.

In our house, my wife has banned anything that sounds like a cliche.
It is what it is. I’m not about to throw her under the bus just because she wants to get her ducks in a row.

A school teacher of mine was fond of saying "I hate cliches. I avoid them like the plague."

That would be never. Not even once. Not even a little bit.

I did, however, go out with a flautist who was a superb skin player. ;)

Glad to see you are thinking outside the box.
