Similar to many old Star Wars fans.
Annual? More like decennial. I did hear recently though, that Lars took at least one lesson back around the early 80’s. The teacher guy who was being interviewed said that Lars only wanted to learn double bass at the time.Don't be too mean, he skipped his annual drum lesson to make that video.
I’m not a Lars fan at all but I will say the simplicity and for the song playing on the black Album Is really good.Annual? More like decennial. Indeed. I get people bagging on Lars over his giant ego, but not his drumming. So he’s not the world’s greatest drummer, but he’s got the gig and everyone else doesn’t.I’m not a Lars fan at all but I will say the simplicity and for the song playing on the black Album Is really good.
When I hear songs from that album I think… I’d never play that part here and yet at the same time think it’s the only part that works for that song
And he’s way more involved in the song writing than dudes way more talented than him.Indeed. I get people bagging on Lars over his giant ego, but not his drumming. So he’s not the world’s greatest drummer, but he’s got the gig and everyone else doesn’t.
Agreed. His albums are great. I'm just not a fan of his live performances. I actually had to leave a Metallica show once. Lars was rushing and dragging so much that it was making me seasick. BTW, I used to be a huge fan of theirs back in the 80's. I guess I just outgrew them.I’m not a Lars fan at all but I will say the simplicity and for the song playing on the black Album Is really good.

I had a very similar experience after seeing them a couple of years ago. Fills, fills, fills...nonstop!!!!I actually had to leave a Metallica show once. Lars was rushing and dragging so much that it was making me seasick.
I've never seen Metallica live nor would I ever pay the money to see them live BUT I've watched hundreds of live videos ranging from the Burton days all the way up to shows within the last year... Lars just gets worse and worse. He can't play his own drum parts at all, his timing is all over the place, and the rest of the band looks miserable having to follow along with him.Agreed. Tony Williams switches to a big yellow kit and everyone is like "hell yeah!"First posted to the Neil is to blame post:
FWIW, Tama is releasing a 40th Anniversary Lars Ulrich signature drum set. Limited to only 72 kits because the shade of yellow is so unattractive, Sweetwater has it listed at $7,999.99 (USD).

Neil is to blame...
So it was Neil Peart who connected Lars to Tama and here we are 40 years later..www.drummerworld.com
His recorded drum parts are actually cool, ESPECIALLY Kill Em All and Ride The Lightning. Hell, even that new Lux Eterna song kicks ass. But he is just so sloppy live. I wish I could get paid millions of dollars a year to be a crappy drummer.
Now it's starting to make sense.I've heard it was Bernard Purdie who played on the albums.
