The Doobies managed to have the same dual drummer feel and sound as Butch and Jaimoe. I thoroughly enjoyed the early music...

Was John the one with the copper Slingerlands?. I saw them locally and their show was outstanding. The recorded tom sound on walking down the highway? was and still is a favorite. The bass player was just to cool in the band..he stood out to me.
