John Bonham- Ramble on

On the intro to ramble on , Bonham is supposedly playing with his hands on a guitar case. When he transitions to sticks as soon as the song gets going, it would be kind of awkward and cumbersome. Is the intro just an overdub of some sorts?

Lots of "answers" to this. I like the idea he was playing his throne. Makes the most sense to me.

Whether it was a drum throne or guitar case, is that part an over dub?

I've also read that it's a guitar case, and most likely a dub; but either way, I play it on the rim.

How else could he transition so quickly to his drum kit?
