Jim Blackley

Here's something I found recently on drum teacher Jim Blackley: https://yorkspace.library.yorku.ca/xmlui/bitstream/handle/10315/36243/Iannuzzi_Giuseppe_2019_Masters.pdf?sequence=2&isAllowed=y

It talks about his background as well as the drumming philosophies he followed in his teaching. Very interesting, I thought, not just for fans of Blackley's work, but also for those interested in the history of jazz drum set pedagogy in general. It talks about how Blackley studied with Jim Chapin and Sonny Igoe in New York in the 1950's, and was also influenced by the teaching concepts of Stanley Spector, Sam Ulano, and Charlie Perry.
