Jazz Competition/Festival - Count Basie's 'Fun Time'

My high school Jazz Band playing Count Basie's Tune 'Fun Time' at the state Jazz Festival.

Our Conductor told us he thought that was possibly the best we had ever played it.

We also played 'My funny Valentine' and 'A Night in Tunisia,' and we received straight 1's.

Yeah, the forums have been a little dead for a while.

I thought it was pretty good. You've definitely improved - your fills are clearer and they seem more connected and your swing is comin' along. There were some parts where the swing suffered a bit but all in all it was pretty good. Great job dude.

CAD I have to say I loved it...thanks for sharing...watch that bumping though Dog Breath will get after you for it as well as Nutha if they catch on. Good stuff...I miss going to those HS band things since my daughter stopped doing it.

Yeah, when you are playing a slow song like that its pretty difficult to keep a perfect swing tempo going 100% of the time (atleast for me that is), but im working on it.

And yes, the forums have been quite quiet. Maybe its because most people are on vacation.

Thanks. This year was my last sadly. Jazz Band was my favorite part of school. Not only was it fun, but my jazz skills increased dramatically.
