is this worth picking up or am i wasting my money?

Not anymore. It was fun for a while, but now it's just more of a hassle.
If you cut it down, you'd have less than an inch outside the bell - basically like a Zil Bel.
You've got to have the tools, time, and experience to get it done too.

Here's the Sweet Ride hi hats I cut down. Couldn't be done with the one you're looking at,
but you could probably do something with it for the price.

what tools did you use to make these. the only thing that i hve that might be able to make the crack go all the way round hopefully as circularly as possible is wire cutters. XD somehow i think its gonna end up a mess. other than that im thinking i could drill a couple of holes and make a gong out of it. then im also thinking i could just try not doing any of this

That's a bad spot and bad break running along lathing lines so close to bell. I'd walk you can do better-might take some patience. I had that cymbal but I gave it to my son-in-law along with my 18 in Zildjian K Custom Dark Crash. What ride do you have now?
But though it may not last long with break increasing it might sound just fine for so many hours of play to get your money out of it.

not in ireland you dont unfortunately
That's a fair point! I've never seen a decent music shop there and I'm there a lot when I'm visiting the mother in law and my wifes friends.

People who sell broken cymbals...... don't get me started!

I think it's fine to sell whatever as long as there's full disclosure. With that said, I was unable to read the full ad, only the title.

this morning i woke up mostly against the idea. this afternoon i think im gonna go for it. see how it is as a ride i only hit lightly anyway. buut when the thing dies proper ill have a zil bell of some kind and the rest i can turn into some sort of gong.

edit: looking at that ad i've accepted it and theres someone another taker in line now to take it in case i dont. good to know theres others out there as daft as me.

That's the only time I've ever heard someone say the food in England is better than anywhere!

Only thing we do better here is chippy's, Indians and Chinese but you guys do the curry cheese chip, seafood chowder and the mighty chicken fillet roll. The beef is pretty darn good as well.

I get fattened up whenever I'm in Ireland.

hehe small world eh. its kinda on the outskirts in an business park area. for ireland it has a lot of selection.....cymbal wise they seem to treat their own stock like crap XD last time i was there they had them all stacked on top of one another and some really pricey ones with a ton of other cymbals on top of them...im no expert but that cant be good for them, not something i would ever do.

very cheap, only 15 euro but

that looks like a pretty extensive crack goes round a third of the way and with all the weight on it im guessing for a ride its in the worst place possible. could this be repaired dya think, or could anything be done with this?
Scrap value of copper is ~€6 bronze should be more but I have yet to persuade a scrap yard of this. Half my cymbals have damage and they work for me

my workhorse is a 19" zultan caz crash/ride. to start with i promised myself id just have the one cymbal......yea i've failed quite badly at that rule.

theoretically the crack can be fused together with Laser welding ; there was a fella (or two) that were doing that; it adds no material just melts the two sides of the crack and they bond reform back together

Others will dremel the crack out which will drop the pitch and maybe the volume

agree nearing the bridge is a bad spot; in the middle is not so bad..I own two an 18 and 13 old Ks where mid lathe fissures don't budge
three- also an A 16" med ride

So if you want to experiment Buy it
JB Weld Epoxy etc

Fluffster didn't give a lot of info - like would this be your only cymbal, or do have have a bunch of other ones already?
Would you be trying to use this as a main ride, and so on.

If you go into it knowing that it's going to get worse, (and maybe quickly), and just want to see what you can do
with a broken cymbal, you won't be out much money for the experience.
