Is our original music "rock" or something else??

A few of our original songs that we recorded to listen back and help with the writing process. As I have been listening I am trying to decide what genre our original stuff is so when people ask I have an answer ready. I feel like "rock", while a fitting descriptor, is super vague. What vibes do you get when you listen to it? What adjectives and/or genres would you use to describe these songs? Oh, and feel free to offer feedback or suggestions! All these songs are pretty close to being finished, I feel, but there's still plenty of room left to add some flair, variation, or change up some main grooves even.

hmm.. acid country
100 proof acid country.
Stoner country.

not in any negative way - it's well done

Our intention (with our covers at least) is to market to a non-country crowd. Our local music scene is chock full of country bands playing the same stuff. So, our covers are mostly 90s and up rock with some pop tunes thrown in with a rock twist. So, I doubt we will use the term country to describe ourselves. Though, you can’t deny the country influence in our writing. I reckon it’s just in our DNA 😂

Southern rock/blues would work.

Well, I'll tell you what, I sure like it. It sounds great, maybe blues rock. Definitely rock, but sometimes the vocals have a touch of country.

not to be weird but no one was 'seen) singing..

Grunge-try
combo of grunge and country

Our vocalist is standing just outside the room. Her mic picks up too much noise when she is in the room with us and it distorts everyone's in ear mix. Kinda sucks not having her energy in the room with us. Hopefully, we can find a work around moving forward.

Thanks, man! Yea she definitely has some country twang in there, for sure. She grew up singing mostly gospel music in the south so I would expect nothing less  . We got extremely lucky finding her! Girl's got pipes!

Well it could be rock or possibly hard rock. Maybe alternative rock or slightly progressive rock or possibly metal rock. Maybe a little punk rock or a little new wave ish or power pop. I might hear a little country in there or contemporary country or country pop or could be country western. Though I do hear a little soft country western pop not to be confused with country swing...then again...

Honestly I can't keep up with genres anymore. I just recently counted the different genres in my digital library and I think there are around 50.

In any regard great songs and performed very well!👍

I reckon we’ll have a better chance at a Grammy falling into all of those categories 😂

I like this. The guy on the Strat is pretty good.

Don’t stress over the labels, you guys are rocking it.

That's my boy, Chase. My brother, Todd, is on the other guitar. We have been playing together off and on for about 20 years now which really has proven to be helpful in the writing process. This is the first time we have tried to write anything since around 2006-2007 and all of these songs have come together very quickly. Our singer is not only a hell of a vocalist but as it turns out she can pull lyrics out of thin air in no time once we have the basic progressions and structure of the song down. We re really excited to continue creating new music together!

Shades of Blackberry Smoke! I hear it as southern rock, but I also love the "acid country" label. Great stuff and I dig the fx crash to your right a lot!
A high compliment there, good sir! Love me some Blackberry Smoke!
That is a 21 K Trash Crash and it is my most favorite cymbal ever 🤘

No. Not country. But I’m hearing southern rock (think Skynyrd, Outlaws). Sounds good.
