Ok to put this to rest:
I don't care for progressive music yet I do admit that Neil was a good drummer. I said that his style is not hard to play because all you have to do is sit there and memorize all the parts (none of them particularly hard to play alone, way harder to remember them all combined). Just like I don't care for most of Zeppellin's music yet I think John Bonham is one of the greatest drummers ever. now to put in context what I mean by memorization since someone mentioned that I confused memorization with execution (for example I can place a Rush song in a DAW, loop short 15 second sections learn those, keep adding a section until I got the whole song, very doable, Neil played a lot of parts none of them particularly hard ) Neil also showed some polyrithms outside of his music that are a lot harder to pull off. on the other hand you have Messhuggah, Tomas Haake, he doesn't play that many parts and the parts separate are mostly not too hard, the problem is that he always plays them combined so you have a constant polyrithm at speed, I find that more impressive than what Neal does. and a lot harder to execute even though it is easier to memorize... again I never said he sucked, I said he was overrated, and you didn't called me ignorant someone else did. it is just my opinion but if you listen to the examples provided it is not hard to understand where I am coming from. Now let's put this to rest and go back to why YouTube is great.. or not.
Using YouTube, I learned a lot of home improvement things which ended up saving me over 6 thousand and allowed me to sell my house with a 65k profit, I hope to make a 100k profit this time and be able to buy my next and final house and finally have a designated place for my drumsets, guitars, etc that i have been dreaming of. Drumming wise, I have found a lot of drummers that I enjoy watching for different reasons, the ones that show skin are ok with me but I also like drummers that play like Tarn Sofwip from Thailand, she really seems to enjoy what she does and is mostly one take one camera covers, not overproduced. I guess if you don't care for a particular channel.. don't watch it, there are a lot of other ones and one of them is bound to have something you like.
