Doesn't everyone own a steel snare? Mines been around for 40+ years and it's 20 years older than me. It got into my hands some how and over time it starts to pit and rust. All this can be revised with some good elbow grease and polish I used Bar Keepers Friend on the chrome body and got most of the rust out. But, today I would probably use Brasso to buff it up. With that said, I can def see my reflection
Hmmm... No, I don't.
I just looked a my list of snare drums and thought about what they are made of, none of mine are Steel at this time.
I have seven multi-ply wood shelled snare drums from Gretsch, DW, Slingerland and Ludwig.
I own one DW Edge which is a combination of a chrome over brass and a ten ply maple shell.
I own ten single ply maple drums from DW, DW/Craviotto, Nobe & Cooley, Gretsch and Slingerland.
I own one Spawn Acrylic drum.
I own one copper shell Ludwig.
And lastly I own ten brass shelled drums from Gretsch, Ludwig, Slingerland, and Rogers.
That's thirty snares and none are steel, I must be some kind of weirdo.
I have owned steel shelled drums in the past from Slingerland, Pearl, Ayotte, and Gretsch, but I have not in several years.
I like steel shelled drums, I'm not sure why there are currently none in my arsenal. I guess that I need to work on that.
