If you like Fusion....

I was asked by another forum member to post these You tube videos on a thread all by themselves. So here goes. They were recorded in our So Cal rehearsal studio with a surveillance camera so the sound quality can be a bit rough. But, if your into rock/Fusion you might enjoy these covers. The first one is a Jeff Beck tune called Freeway Jam, the second is a tune from a band called Focus and the tune is called Hocus Pocus, and the third tune is a Steve Morse Band tune called The Easy Way. They sound real cool if you have headphones. Otherwise crank up the speakers and rock out. Hope y'all like 'em.

That's cool playing, but my Dutch chauvinism tells me Hocus Pocus is far to 'metal'. You've got the fills down though, but try to involve more crossrhythms and less playing along with just the quarter notes - makes the whole thing move more.

I played with Thijs van Leer a couple of weeks ago who is, and was then, very much a jazz musician. So is Pierre v/d Linden (who played on the original). You can find jazz timing throughout Focus.

To be honest, in keeping with your reply to the tune being "metal", my son requested that we do the tune and he likended the Gary Hoey version as opposed to the Focus version. My son is more of a rocker than a jazzer, so that's pretty much the reason our version tends to stray towards the rockier side of things. Not to discount the Focus version at all. I am much older than the others in the band and remember the first time I heard the tune some 30 odd years ago. Totally blown away. Very original sound. Thanks for listening to our stuff...
