Just picked up a 15" floor tom for my 80s Yamaha RC kit. So now my toms are 12x10 15x13 and 18x16. I'm pretty pumped about it I've been waiting for a 15" to show up online

I wish these were more common:

12x6 snare
10x7
12x9
15x12
17x14 (I know, but It would be good if the did exist)
24x14/12

Agreed. I'm surprised you're saying it out loud (the 10" tom bit).

;)

Oh, I have no forum cred to concern myself with. I like the way the 14 fits in tight spaces. I like the 12 tom over the 10 and can understand the preference for bigger toms, I just don't find it as bad as is commonly mentioned.

A smaller bass drum would be nice, if I had a wish.

When I ordered my DW Pure Cherry kit, I specified 8x12/9x13/14x15/15x16/15x22.
I like traditional depths but I wanted something a bit different. I don't like power toms and 18" deep bass drums, although I have three of them!

Through this thread, we see that manufacturers should really consider going back to shallower bass drum. 22x16 or 14".
The move to shallower floor toms was a good one, the move to small rack (10x7, 12x8) over a big 22x18, maybe less.

That was my intent actually. I thought just maybe some industry people might pass through here and get the message.

Cool thread. I would go with DW Collectors in two configs.

16x20
7x10
8x12
12x14
14x16

16x22
7x12
7x13
12x16
12x18 gong drum

I love my 14x22" kick and would definitely gravitate towards manufacturers that offer shallower kicks off the shelf - same with toms.

Rock/Pop/Country 22x16, 12x8, 16x14

Fusion 20x16, 12x8, 14x14

Jazz 18(or 20)x14, 12x8, 14x14

It a fan of 12x9, not sure why, maybe a little bit narrower tuning range.
Like 10’ x 7, or 10x8 when I’m in the mood for a five piece.

Even if I could, of course, live with it, I know I would make a compromise by buying for example, a Renown with deep 22x18 and a tiny 10x7. Make it two inches less on the bass and one or two more on the racks Mr Gretsch.
Let’s wish it for the next Namm ?
