I know I’m not playing this correctly, but --

It works for me in my current situation, & the band seem happy with it.

To play the original left hand hats part convincingly would require some woodshedding using my limited toolbox, & my practice facility hasn’t been available for family reasons for some time. I know purists will flame me for laziness, etc, but there was an immediate performance demand from the band, & I can get this to flow satisfactorily.

Nice historic workmen’s theatre in Wales. Two band stage setup, hence the clutter.

You can apologize all you want, @Andy, but I see/hear no reason. Apparently, @Stroman, I'm not a drummer - or maybe just ignorant.

Was the fire extinguisher placed behind the drummer for a reason? I'm betting it was because the drummer was the musician most likely to spontaneously combust on stage. ;)

Haha!! Maybe I should have said *some* drummers. ;)

Honestly, I never heard the hi-hat part on the recording. It wasn't until I saw Steve Smith playing the song that I discovered that LH hat was even in there. :ROFLMAO:

That's why it's called "your gig", you get to play it the way you want. Sounded good to me. Cool venue there.
Thanks!
I thought that flowed just fine!

Nobody but drummers would even care about the LH hi-hat. 😁
True. So long as it supports the band delivery, I’m good.

Almost certainly!
Who cares what purists think?

Nice playing, congrats Andy!
Thanks Alain - simple works(y)
I like it! It has good flow and keeps the flavor of the original part.
Thank you. The whole act approach is whatever works. Nobody’s playing the original parts verbatim.
I have notified the international drumming authorities. If they follow through on this you will be contacted.
If they don't contact you, rock on!
I’ve lost count of how many acts have chased replication perfection, only to fail in delivery & overall vibe.
Nobody cares except drummers. People just want to hear the “crack…doom…crack…doom doom…”

You have GREAT energy and feel in your part—congrats!
Thanks my friend!!

Sounds good to me!

Sounds like you captured the spirit of the song even if you played it differently. I thought it sounded really good.

No one gives a damn what hand you play your HH/Ride with. You sounded great. Nice job!
FYI, My teacher told me he saw Gregg Bissonnette play this song cross-handed. He said that he played it great too.

Thanks Jon!

Thank you. For sure, there’s more I can do with this, but stripped back seems to fit the band delivery.

That’s interesting. If it’s good for Gregg, I’m sure I can get a pass:)
