How Would You React to Singer Cursing Your Playing On Stage?

Being the age I am, & not giving a flying f*** about prima donnas, I think I'd probably have walked over to the mic next to hers, & said
"OK, finish the set without me. I'm leaving" & then continued to break down my gear in full view of the audience.
Who'd be the most embarrassed?:p
What if you're thousands of miles from home and if you break a contractual obligation you don't get paid ?

Best to learn how to handle unstable women singers and become invisible till you can really disappear .

Right. My dad called it “cutting off your nose to spite your face.” And instability is definitely not confined to women. Still, your point is a good one. Consider the implications first.

Of course I wouldn't like it, but I'd take it on the chin. I'd wait till the show is over, maybe even the tour if things didn't improve.

If someone is being childish or unprofessional, there's not much you can do. You certainly can't be childish back. If you walk during a live set, you'll be known as that guy who walked during a live set. You could affect you and the rest of the band getting paid. You'll brand yourself and the rest of the band as hostile and disagreeable. The audience expects what they paid to see. They have zero concern that you've been unfairly dissed.

Quite a few responses saying that they'd walk right there. Really? You're rage quitting a national artist? I doubt it. You'll be replaced quickly like you never existed with any of the numerous people who want that gig.

I've had two bad experiences with national artists(I wasn't on drums) and I merely refrained from working with them after I was done.

I’m not going to disagree with you, but….abusive working conditions are abusive working conditions. The fact that we tolerate them is the whole reason they continue to exist.

Having said that, the BEST response is to make an actual human connection with the artist in a quiet moment. Just ask them if they’re ok, and then listen. The much-needed correction has to come AFTER we’ve established trust and affection in the relationship with them

Not to me. She is jack squat to me. Nobody cares about Spanish-language singers outside Latin America. Nobody ever will. It’s just not compelling or interesting. And never will be.
That's a rather ignorant comment. Who's "Nobody", you? "Latin America" has twice the population of the US and that's just those living in those countries without accounting for US latinos. I never heard of this artist and couldn't care less, but as a fellow American owning a passport, I gotta tell you, it seems there are another 7.6 Billion more humans out there...

Too bad she didn't start to dance a jig for the audience like that girl on Saturday Night Live who messed up lip syncing.

As a pro, you finish the show. Once you’ve met your touring commitments and obligations you can decide whether or not you want to work with the artist again. For all we know, he may have received an apology after the show? He didn’t seem very phased by it tbh…it’s only rock n’ roll after all…:)(y)

That would be nice…if the artist allows it. Some do not.

Let me know when you’re done.

For my own story, I used to be in an 11-piece band with a rotating cast of guest singers. One of them was a very fun performer but very unbalanced personally. We all knew random drama was part of her deal. She had a meltdown at one of our rehearsals, who knows why, and in the middle of her rant she turns and pointed to me and yelled “it’s like he said, I suck and I can’t sing!” I had never said anything like that. My mouth hung open and I was about to object, when the trumpeter leaned over and said in my ear “fall on the sword, man, just fall on the sword.” I clammed up and we resumed the rehearsal as soon as we were able.

Well you know we'd all suck it up and take the blame-be as professional as possible to accommodate the situation-BUT we can always dream of throwing and breaking a stick on their head. I've been dressed down-yeah it's humiliating but you can also let it make you a better man.

Ok. Cool story.

Judging by the comments on a video I saw of the incident, her popularity is taking a hit (whoever she is).
