Hi hat control pedals (VDrum owner question)

I’ve been collecting Roland pads to use with my TD-10 VDrum module (it currently serves as a MIDI sound source for my Zendrum) so I can have a basic eKit to play in my new house quietly and was wondering if it mattered which hi-hat control pedal I got for it. Roland has quite a few and I see a lot of FD7 models out there a lot cheaper than newer ones.

Does the model of FD pedal matter for my ancient TD10 module?

No it should work just fine. The difference comes with the more high end because they have a piece that allows you to use a real hi hat stand. If I was you I would buy the Goedrum controller and use any cymbal pad with a real hi hat stand. I bought one a while ago and can confirm it works just as good as the Roland controller.

they sell a version for Roland and another one for Yamaha

they also sell one with the cymbal pads:

I forgot you will need two cables one for the cymbal pad and one for the piece that goes below.
Thanks. I already got the old Roland hi hat pad which works fine. I just need the pedal. I did manage to win an FD7 on eBay for $30 so it’s good to know it’ll work.

This kit is strictly for the new house where I have to be quiet and occasionally want
To practice. If I’m gigging enough I may not have anything set up to play at all.

Maybe later you could try just the controller trust me having a moving hi hat adds a lot to the experience and the part is dirt cheap.

I guess you wanna buy second hand controller. I have had some FD-8 (I still play one) and the rubber actuator is to be replaced on regular basis otherwise it becomes stiff and the hihat doesn't close and chick as it should.

Just avoid the FD-8.
