Help identifying a Zildjian Cymbal

Hello friends,

I'm about to buy a pair of hats. The seller says it's a 70's hat but he doesn't know the series or any other information but that it's a 70's Avedis Zildjian.

I'm adding some pics to this thread. I hope somebody can help me find if it's an A Series. I'm dying for a pair of New Beats and this one may save me I hope.

I'm just running away if it's an entry level series.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well they're definitely A series hats. Looks like a bit of keyholing on one of the hats, shouldn't effect the sound.

Can't help with age or model

Are you able to hear them in person before buying? If they sound good and the price is good, happy days you have a pro pair of hats!

To me, these cymbals look like they were factory-polished (what Zildjian calls "brilliant" finish). Brilliant-finish cymbals were pretty much only available by special order back then, so they're kind of a curiosity. The stamp, as well as the wide lathing, lead me to believe that they are indeed from the 70's, and they're probably New Beat hi-hats, one of Zildjian's most popular models. In any case, you should probably pick them up if the price is right! I'm sure they'll sound great!

There is a site with all the different era Zildjian stamps-you can find the piece of your puzzle there. Just Google it-I've only had one cup of coffee so too lazy for my fingers to do the walking LOL.

Hey guys. Thanks for the replies. The price for it is great.

I can tell that I'm finding used New Beats around here for 2x, sometimes 3x the price of this pair.

So I think I'm going to give it a try.

I was afraid this one could be some entry level hats, but I think that's not the case.

I'm going to try and see how it sounds but I think it will sound great (I hope so lol).

Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate.

Zildjian did not make "entry level" cymbals in the 70s. I am pretty sure only Paiste did. Peace and goodwill.
