Many thanks sir.

Part one? Nice. Lil' Monster

How's the smell? :p (Not beaten into the dirt yet)

How did you get the BD reso head's counterhoop black like that?

Sticks4Drums used to achieve that with electrical tape
Im wondering how it smells too, when the heads need replacement, I will know. 😂

The head is a Remo Shield head and comes with the black ring.

I will replace it with a single ply clear head and the sonor felt strip.

Just like that it’s buh-bye DW?
The way you went on about that kit, I thought it’d be buried with you.
Have you always wanted Sonor but kept it a secret?
Yes and no.

Order an extra kick wasn’t financial possible (especially after the price increase last august) and I had already lost a gig offer becuase I didnt have a kit I could use (the DW was too big to take along).

I already had contact with the owner of this stunner before I got my DW (I grew up with Chester Thompson using the Special Editon at the We Can Dance tour) and as it had both a 22” and 18” and five toms, I reached out to him last week.

I visited his studio, sat behind it and was in love, just as much was I was with the DW, especially the 18” and how these are build.

Ofcourse It hurt me a bit seeing them go Yesterday, but had maybe more to do with the fact that I spend 6k on it over a span of 2,5 years and sold it for 4k.

But these will hold their value much better and will even rise, so my two kids have something extra later on when I pass.

But the bottom line to me drums are about creating art, expressing yourself.

The DW/my home studio didn’t give that anymore.

Tbh I sat behind the kit only once a few weeks, as I really didn’t feel playing due to covid, mental health issues, and playing for over 29 years already.

As the first gig is coming up next week, it was like it had to be like this.

Speaking of CT (and to stay a bit on topic)

A true monster kit. The legend.

This was 10 years a go. A huge suprise to see it in real life at the Musik Messe.

OH MAN YOU SOLD THE DW'S IN THAT FN FANTASTIC LOOKING MAHOGANY FEATHER FINISH?

That kit was in my favorite top 3 kits here

So sorry to see them go. At least they will live on here in photos

If you'll excuse me I'll be needing a good cry right about now

The finish was atunning indeed, and i’m still in doubt which looked better. The DW, or the Sonor.

Probably equal, just as the sound.

I hope it delivers!

BTW, I dig the thick shells. Jimmy Chamberlain's Yammie kit had thick shells, too, and sounded fantastic.

Beautiful that the monsters live with you harmoniously.
When combine them together, they lock in pretty well.
What is the blue Yamaha monster?

Finally!
This beast is very tight, and my kind of setup with minimal stands!

Is there a reason you have a coated skin on your 14” floor?

Thanks for posting guys!

It’s an Aquarian Performance II that I tried on one of my snares as an experiment but I didn’t like it…popped it on the 14” temporarily to replace the stock head, tuned it and boom! Loved it! :D (y)
