Geez Louise: Vistalites

I read and read and read and read about Vistalites. I begged off buying a kit - I'm not quite there yet. But I did buy a 14x5 snare.

It has none of the unwanted characteristics I read about. It is all positive. I put a Remo PSIII without dot on the batter side. A fantastic snare sound. I can play it very softly and get a lovely snare-y response. Play it loud and nothing nasty happens. If I was better at tuning and choosing heads I betcha I could use it for jazz. As of now it will go into service for our blues band. Used it at practice with guys a few times and it sounded great. Our guitar player is a sound engineer. He has a nice collection of snares all tuned for his studio. The Vistalite sounded better, he thought, for live performances it has a bit more character than what his studio snares have. It's tuned medium-high and no choking. Very responsive. I'm pretty excited.

I may start collecting Vistalite snares. The one I have is wonderful.

It's a green Vistalite it looks like any other new green Vistalite. If I take a pic it will just be a normal green Vistalite snare on a normal snare stand in my normal house lol.

Seriously, I'll probably take a few pics at the next gig June 24.
Is it the coke bottle green or the dark green? I love that dark forest-y green they sometimes issue.

I'm considering an acrylic snare - not necessarily a vistalite (but maybe) - Tama mirage 50th anniversary is piquing my interest currently.....
Good to hear an 'all good' type review rather than " beware of cracking".......

Congratulations! I never had a Vistalite snare, but I did have a solid black Vistalite kit back in 2008. I put coated ambassadors on it so you couldn’t see inside and everybody loved the “woody” tones!

I am actually considering buying a vintage Vistalite Kit for an investment. They seem to only Go up. i played one at a Gig in high School that another guy had and it was awesome.

Pics of my green Vistalite snare. The green is a lot brighter than I thought it would be.

FYI I put my batter head snare logos over the throws so I can easily know where they are in a quick instant if I need to turn on/off. Just me being me.

Wow! That's beautiful- cutting edge ( for the era) but still classy/vintage!
Did Ludwig do red(s) in Vistalite?
(I'm a guitar player, that digs drums!)

Era is 2024 lol it's brand new.

They have new red, blue, yellow, orange-ish and many other colors available. Clear or black, too. And others.
