Funky Friday Groove

Ahh thanks, i have the yammy pre-yess system which find fine, but i do have the drums pushed up against the mount all the way up the rod ( i like to keep things compact as i can) i might try moving them out a bit.

I'm find with my sustain, i just can't get them to be that boomy/bassy like my DW's.. i think it comes down to the new drums being beech and not maple.. i love how they sound though so no complaints:)
There used to be a small piece of felt glued to the shell of my toms but it fell off at some point so in my case, the rod was directly touching the wood. When I moved it back a bit, about half an inch, I was surprised at the difference in sound.

Hey guys! Here's another groove for you. In this one, I purposely decided to go for a weird, long, unusual time signature which is 37/16!! That being said, it's really only 2 bars of 4/4 plus 5 16ths. I mainly use the king kong beat sticking which is "RLRR LRRL" which David Garibaldi talks about in his books and videos. I hope you'll enjoy!!

I love this! I was having trouble figuring out the right pattern to play for "MMMBop" recently and this video fixed everything! Thanks, Daniel! :)

Hey guys! Here's another one where I decided to mess around with subdivisions in a half time shuffle type groove. I hope you'll enjoy!

Hey guys! Here's another one where I went for something somewhat simpler and where I thinking of the James Brown drummers. 4/4 with some ghost notes on the snare drum. I hope you'll enjoy!!

Hey guys! This is a four on the floor groove where I am playing in a triplet subdivision and where I am doubling a few notes on the snare and hihat to add a little spice to the pattern. I hope you'll enjoy.

Hey guys! Here's another groove for you where I went for somekind of a "stepper" vibe which is a type of jamaican rhythm. I added a few 16ths on the hihat and some open hihat notes. I hope you'll enjoy!!

Here's another groove where I decided to go for a James Brown type feel with a few displaced snare drum accents in the pattern. I hope you'll enjoy!!

Hey drummers! Here's another somewhat funky one where I decided to use the double pedal which I have been messing with lately in my practicing. I have heard a few drummers use it in a groovy way like Gavin Harrison and I felt like I wanted to give it a shot. I hope you'll enjoy!!

Hey guys! Here's another one where I am playing the kick on all 4's and the hihat foot on all upbeats. I remember hearing Steve Gadd play something similar somewhere. Then, I just added the jazz ride pattern along with a 3 over 2 backbeat on the snare. I hope you'll enjoy.

Hey guys! Here's another linear groove where I am using groups of 3 (RLK), 6 (RLRLKK) and 7 (RLRLRLK) phrased on the kit using the cowbell, hihat foot to hopefully create an interesting groove. I hope you'll enjoy!!
