Got floor tom legs without memory locks? What do you use ?

Tape, felt tip marker, other ideas?

Hi Jeremy!

I use a black sharpie......just a line on each leg to get the correct height and a little arrow which lines up the correct orientation of the tom leg feet angle (my tom legs have those big Pearl isolation feet).

I write a number on each leg and the associated number on the tom bracket too.

It's very effective for setting up.

as an auto mechanic I never liked hose clamps on drums. On a Studebaker yes Gretsch never
I totally get it and somewhat agree.

But as a guy who has searched left and right for replacements for hose chewed up Rogers floor tom bracket screws, this was a quick and dirty fix to keep my FT from sagging mid-song. It happened a few times and it is NO FUN ;-)

the excess after tightened down you have to curl it away from snagging or from fingers; Like you smartly have the excess 'curled' in toward the drum;
that excess issue I never liked sticking out all over
where ever on set- cymbal stand, cowbell stand, tt holder etc..
plus I need those hose clamps for cars 😁

I use my own memory. I can rely on the knurled section of the leg for the closest leg.
During performance, I sometimes need to tweak cymbals angle / height but I never need to reajust the floor Tom legs.

But in truth what I need are the screws that hold the two pieces of the FT bracket together
? is that it

Yes
New Bracket$ would solve no?

RDH3248-M-1100x1100.jpg

baby but new Philips screws that don't release are just a cover plate
and the release is now with the wing..
not shown or said is the hole where the Leg north-south goes thru for floor tom usage which I would have said in the title of the part

it's weird they don't say "for Floor tom" but
instead use word "bi-directional"..

index.php

whereas the old-style that cover plate held the leg it doesn't with zee new one
Rogers are as engineered as Chryslers once were..

It's definitely a permanent fix. And one I will get to eventually.

I spoke to Dave @ Dave's drumshop to order all new hardware (for FT but also Tom mounts and BD spurs.)

I use several different colors of electrical tape. I wrap a small piece around the leg, and another small piece of the same color on each mount.

I do the same for cymbal stands and tom holders on an as needed basis.
