First gig with new band

This band has taken about 18 months to put together. Went through several bass players and singers and almost gave up a few times. First gig was this past weekend. Had some technical issues with sound as we are running it ourselves and haven’t had much experience with the new digital board in a live setting yet. But it went really well! Our singer is just ridiculous 🤘🏻

Sounds good! Peace and goodwill.

Sounds great! With some bands, finding a good bass player is almost like finding a unicorn!
Man, it was crazy hard to find someone! We went through 7 auditions over the course of about a year. These dudes would come in and it was obvious they had not practiced the songs at all. We would give them 5 songs and 7-10 days notice which I felt was more than fair. Finally found our unicorn, though!

Wow! Nice stuff. Ariana is isn’t easy to pull off.
Right!? This was one of the songs she picked to audition with and we were all very skeptical that she was gonna come in and do any justice to Ariana. So glad she proved us all wrong 🤗

sounds fine to me!! no mixing issues I can hear...

Wow, lol. I asked for an audition locally expecting some time but was given 5 songs with 24 hours before audition time. And they got an attitude when I explained that I can't be ready in 24 hours.
Told them I'd work on them while they were looking in case nobody was found. And they blew me off the next week when the 2nd round was posted. I think they're still using subs. A 3rd round was posted and then I heard a couple weeks later they weren't satisfied with their prospects.

Thanks! Backing vocals were pretty low and for some reason the snake didn’t want to communicate with the board for the first set. Luckily, the only mics running through the snake are drums so we just played the first set without the drum mics. No biggie, but plenty of tinkering to do before the next show 😎

5 songs in 24 hours is pretty unrealistic IMO
Especially with our set list, you just can’t expect someone to learn that kind of stuff that quickly. the thing that was so frustrating to me was that Sweet Child was one of the audition songs and it has that super prominent bass line in the intro… If it’s me I am at least gonna make sure I have that lick down cold. 6 of the 7 just DID NOT PLAY ANYTHING for those few measures 🤯

And the band is tribute style, too. Strict adherence to the record. I can learn about anything on bass, if given a bit of time.
