Stix.. that is awesome ! Love the fiinish also.. and I don't think it's for chic's whatsoever.

Here is a real nice Fibes 13x7 that I got from Reliable Music in Charlotte years ago.

It's one of my favorite snares. I love it :)

They were Jasper shells in the old kits. The newer ones are Keller.

I think Tommy started making his own shells either when he acquired the name (around 1995) or if he was still sourcing from Jasper, started his own shells after Jasper went out. I don't recall Fibes being Keller shells at any time. About 6 years ago, I had considered Fibes an endorsement possibility because I liked the fact that they were one of only a few US companies that made their own shells.

Tommy said a week ago that he's still looking for a new facility and fully intends to bring the drums back.

Try to find Chris Layton's instructional video on playing shuffles. He's playing on a wide open Fibes set that sounds fantastic! I'd love to have a set of those but the divorce lawyer that I'd have to hire would take up all of the cymbal budget. Some day, some way.

Was pleasantly surprised to find this page - and see some other Fibes kits. Especially the Crystalite ones! I have a Double Forte Crystalite kit that I've had for 34 years! I've added a the 10" & 12" high rack toms when Fibes was back in business in 2003. I'll add the picture as soon as I figure out how to scale the image down a bit.

I recently picked up what I thought was a set of "74 clear visualities, however upon a closer look and a little research I found that I got 2 ludwig rack toms and bass mount tom holder attached to a vintage fibes kick and it came with a fibes floor tom. It seems to all be in decent shape. The hardware has all been painted flat black. So here is the dilemma, do I leave it as is,or convert the kit to all ludwig, all fibes, leave it as is???

I would just leave it as is.Keep all the drums in as original condition as possible. The fibes lugs also may have different hole spacing that Ludwig.Fibes, especially their clear acrylic and fiberglass drums are becoming more collectable.Play then like they are.

I Have a Black felt finish Fibes snare from the late 70s that sounds great...dONT USE IT MUCH BUT I BREAK IT OUT FROM TIME 2 TIME......

I have a set of Fibes from the year 2000 in Turquoise Sparkle. They are fantastic! Sizes are 16x20; 8x12; 14x14 and 5x14. This Fibes kit remains home in my studio and I play them every day.

Traveling I either use a Ludwig Exotic (2011) or a small Gretsch Catalina Jazz.(2005).

I remember coming across a burgandy Fibes kit a dozen or so years ago, and being really impressed by them. I would go back to that store, but I never saw any after that. Love the kits shown here, especially those black beauties !
