EVANS G Plus??

I found a set of Evans G Plus heads in the little music shop downstairs from my rehearsal space and I REALLY like them. I tune my drums pretty low (just above wrinkle) and have been looking for a head that puts out a good amount of volume at such low tension and the G Plus are exactly what I've been looking for, they don't have the Level 360 logo and the box says "coated" but they're actually frosted. I searched the Evans website and didn't see anything about the G Plus heads anywhere but I saw the Evans G12 heads which are also single ply 12 mil heads, are they the same thing as the G Plus?

If memory serves me (it often doesn't), the g plus originally came with that frosted coating. Later on, Evans released a standard white coating option. Eventually the g plus became the g12 (I assume to provide clarity after adding the g14), and the frosted option went away. Corrections welcomed.

Not sure of the history or evolution, but I bought one on clearance at GC few years ago and love this head. I put it on a 10'" firecracker snare and have had an eye out since.

Looking at the Evans site the G plus are no longer offered. I do see them online for sale though.

The G plus is a single-ply 12 mil drum head. i assume it became the G-12 drum head once the G-14 came out to distinguish the differences??? i could be wrong tho

im sure EvanSpecialist will shed some light of the subject

What's already been mentioned is correct. G-Plus became G-12. Frosted coating on the G-Plus became standard white coating when they changed the name.

Exactly. We launched the G14 and decided to rename the G Plus "G12" to make a bit more sense out of the product names. At this point we also changed the coated version to our standard white coating due to consumer demand (some of which came from this particular forum - that's right, your feedback makes a difference!).

Per RickP's suggestion, I replaced the stock coated Ambassadors with coated G Plus on my Yamaha Club Customs and they are superb.
