Electronic Drums Lifespan

Bit of a specialised quesion to ask but anyway... I'm am thinking about purchasing a td-6 all mesh pad kit off ebay (used) and then selling on the module and getting a td-9 instead. How long do the pads last for? Do you know if I can get a warranty on a new module? I have heard that electonic drums dont last long and the triggering becomes faulty. Also, if anyone has got any bright ideas about how I can get all mesh kit with a decent module for under £1000 it would be most appreciated.

I have a TD-20 kit, I have had it for approx 3 years no with no problems at all.
The fact of the matter is there is no magic int he drums themselves. There are a few parts that can easily be replaced if they break.
