Edge vs Collector Metal

Need a hand making a decision. I'm divided between two snares. I trying to decide which to buy. My current birch main snare is very loud and cuts through anything. It is great for many situations. But I want something a little more mild mannered (warmer). I'm between a DW Collectors Copper 5 X 14 (very warm) and a DW Edge 6 X 14. Given I'm happy with my other snare for Rock or if I need to cut over the din. Which would you choose for warmth and blending better with the rest of the kit.

Having owned a DW Edge 6x14, I would say that it's nothing special (too dry for my taste).

I had a DW Collectors maple before that and was disappointed with it (uber-dry), so eventually traded it in for the Edge, which had much more bite, but was still too dry and wasn't as fun to play as my cheapo Pearl Sensitone brass (BB knock off). So I got rid of it too.

Before you go thinking that I'm not a DW fan, probably one of my favorite snare sounds of all time happens to be Thomas Pridgen's snare on the two Mars Volta records he did, and they are both DW copper snares (he uses a smaller snare on some stuff - I'm talking about the main one). It's fairly warm with a really nice crack and is still somewhat dry, but it has so many tasty flavors in its tone...

I'd go with that one in a heartbeat.

Thanks MikeM I picked up a 5 X 14 DW Collectors Copper today. Great sounding drum. I could stare at it for hours it is nothing short of Drum-Porn.
