DW6000

Its modeled after the original 5000 from the 80's. Single chain, to adjust footboard angle you need to move the chain up/down the sprocket, no base plate. It does have the newer heel plate w/delata hinge.

thanks. is that better or worse than the current 5000 ? and how to either compare to the 3000 ?
 
The 6000 is gonna have a lighter feel I assume. Not really better or worse. The 3000 is essentially a 5000 from the mid-late 90's without the Delta hinge. I actually like the slimmer heel plate on the 3000 more than the 5000 and 9000. I recently played a gig with a 3000, its a nice pedal for the money. I would actually buy it over the 5000 and upgrade to the Delta hinge.

I would say this also, especially the foot board and heel plate feel.
 
The Delta hinge is the Red one.
It has ball bearings inside it. It's a smoother feel over the standard hinge.

It's not a "must have or the pedal sucks", but it's a nicer feel.

The only "issue" changing hinges over is getting the screws OUT. They use a good amount of Lock-Tite, and it's sometimes a PITA to get screws out.

I have 3 of the 3000 2 legger hi hats stands, and I changed 2 of them over to Delta hinges.
One was fairly easy, one was very hard to get the screws out.
It was a pain, but I still feel like it was worth it. I play out a lot, and wanted the best feel I could get from it.

The 3000 gear is nice stuff. Just as high quality, but a bit smaller tubing--which is still PLENTY heavy duty IMO.
DW is one of those companies that never "gets rid" of anything.
What was top of the line 5 years ago just gets a new number and sold at a slightly lower price point.

The 3000 pedal is nicer, and more "advanced" than the 5000 I got in 1991, and that pedal felt great even with a single chain.

coolness. i might have to do that. btw, what is the advantage of the two legged stand ? it doesn't seem to make sense to me. but then, i don't know many things.
 
Most people use 2 leg stands to get the left side on a double pedal as close as possible to the hat foot board.

No DP on my kit, but, I use a 2 legger because I use a left side floor tom. Having two legs lets me get the drum exactly where I want it.

I haven't had any stability problems AT ALL with the DW 3000 hat stand. It's a bit smaller tubing, saving weight, but it feels real solid under my foot.

My next hat stand is one of the new Ludwig Atlas flat Base stands (when it comes in) and I'll be selling one or two of my other hat stands and recoup some $$.

The Atlas has been said (by people who have tried it a NAMM) to be real solid under the foot. I would have gotten a DW 6000, but it swayed on me. The Atlas looks to be WAY more solid than DW's FB hat stand too.

i envy you guys who know all this stuff. i wish i had started playing sooner in life. maybe i'd be up to speed now. maybe.

the 3000 series seems to be a good move to make i guess. not sure if i'll need a two-legger, but i do plan to add a left side tom at some point. i'll give them a serious look once i get through sorting out these cymbals.

i appreciate your knowledge and experience.
