DW pedals

Anyone heard anything about the quality of the new DW pedals? I saw some folks online were saying the quality has dropped and the newer builds aren't as great. Any thoughts?

@cbphoto thanks! I somehow changed the topic of this thread. Sorry. Regardless, I thought that too, but I tightened it as tight as possible, and it didn't resolve the issue or even improve it. That's why I'm at a loss. Thanks for that diagram though. Super helpful
 
I haven't experienced any sort of decline in quality between the redplate DW5K I had almost 30 years ago and the vintage-style DW5K I've got now. I'll be upgrading my Gibraltar hi-hat stand to a 3-legged DW5K stand whenever I get around to it.

I'm not a veteran drummer, but I am an experienced fabricator, and the DW5K is a great piece of kit. Some folks prefer the Iron Cobra, but I don't see how that's the result of superior/inferior construction.
 
I don't know how recent the time frame is regarding the claims of quality issues, but the most recent DW 5000 double pedal I bought two years ago hasn't given me any problems. My first DW 5000 double pedal is still doing fine after 14 years. Not saying they are the be-all, end-all in pedals, but I never had any issues with them. In fact, I've had mostly DW hardware for many years and never had any issues. Ever.

Is the locking screw damaged? Can you loosen it completely?
 
I have brand new 9000 doubles and hat stand, and also 5000s versions of them new too and lots of DW hardware. Quality is top notch like usual, if you have a problem you can always return them and they have warranty so any concerns I doubt. Amazon has negative reviews on anything.
 
I've been playing DW 9000 pedals for almost 20 years. No complaints, Great pedals! The new beaters with the 4 removable brass weights are really nice.
 
Are you talking about the new MDD/MCD pedals?
