Drumming improving my happiness

My drumming moment, I can tel right now, has become my very best moment in a day. At the job, I think about playing during the evening and how fun it's going to be, how much tighter and precise I am becoming at trading bars in jazz tunes and finding new ideas.

I've reach a point where I know that Ill never quit playing.

Being able to move around the kit with some satisfying logic, it took some time to come up with a little result, now it's a matter of refining, improving, practicing the same thing, differently, working on 1 limbs more then the other, shifting limbs!! trying non conventional things, Improvisation.

Ooouff I love this very much!!! Every day, I have one or multiple moment like: "Oh shit I passed that thing?! that was so cool!" The drum itself, my tuning makes me happy, my bass drum is getting much tighter, doing weird new subdivisions in time with the hi hats, I bought a new K Light Flat Ride a couple of weeks ago, I find it totally incredible, all the different sweet sounds all around, turning a rhythmic instrument into almost a melodic instrument.

:)

It's a bundle of fun, I am going to play with real people one day.

this is as it should be!!!

I am lucky that my drumming improves my happiness 24/7 as it is all I do for a living

Great!!

I love my job as too! They say that if you love your job, you'll never work a single day. True wealth IMO.

yep....my dad told me years go that: "you must be happy with your job, because it takes ups 80% of your life." It effects everything you do no matter what

I chose happy at my job, and not a lot of money over the opposite. Have never regretted it

I drum some nearly every day. By trade I'm a retired welder and for the most part have always enjoyed and am proud of my occupation. All over the world there are thousands of Beechcraft airplanes flying right now with my welded assemblies. I've been drumming since Christmas of 69 and have always wanted to be a professional drummer but when you start a family as a teenager you need a steady job with insurance, so that's what I did. I don't regret it but I'd pursue music and not start a family so young, if I could do it over. Drumming has always brought me joy.

Drumming is the one part of my day where I’m not thinking about or stressing over something else.
That's right,

I find this fun especially when reaching a point where it's not work and just playing a bit of music without bothering too much about not being able to play 1 part. Certainly in my case of smooth jazz, even if some parts are not perfect (or most of it) I don't really care at all.

I've got something like 50 random selected pieces of music, I pick 1 randomly and just play against it. If it's an annoying song, I delete it from the list and play only against those I like the most.

I'm no longer bored by life.

I love drumming so much that I am trying to start a band, which may happen soon. Peace and goodwill.

Auspicious, See "Making My Drumming Comeback at Age 68" Thread by Claude. Lots of good posts there - including Mine:):)

This is the way.
"My drum set is my therapist" is a patch I have and it says all I need it to.

I want that as a sticker for my truck!!

Now that you mention it, I don't worry about anything when I'm playing drums. I'm just having fun. Even if I am working on music, learning or practicing, I'm always enjoying it.
