I'd known Dom for many years, and the interview was really more of a nice chat between us. Very comfortable, and maybe the best interview I've ever done.
This "nice chat" comment sums him up as an interviewer perfectly. He just had a way of getting those he talked to so relaxed that the real person came out.
I'll miss him & the great talks he had with some of my favorite drummers. RIP my friend.
I'm seeing multiple posts on Facebook that Dom has passed. A true ambassador to the drumming community and a real sweetheart.
He interviewed me for The Sessions in 2018. I'd known Dom for many years, and the interview was really more of a nice chat between us. Very comfortable, and maybe the best interview I've ever done.
Wow! I can't believe it... what a shock! I loved watching him drum. He had such a unique style of drumming that I enjoyed watching. He'll be greatly missed.
Bermuda, so glad that you got to meet him.
This was one of my favorite videos that I watched over and over again.
I remember first listening to him in a video talking about Vic Firth sticks. All's he had to do to rivet you in your seat was talk about nylon vs wood tip sticks. His voice..his demeanor and delivery were unequaled. I'll never forget his talk with Bermuda. Miss him already. ❤.
I first saw Dom in like 89/90 at a drum clinic. While I can't say I ever got to know him well, I have had chances to hang out with him here and there over the years at PAS and NAMM events.
He was always so full of energy and life. It's hard to imagine anything slowing him down.
RIP Dom Famularo, Global Ambassador of The Drums, A Musical Giant. He will remain a beacon of inspiration. I'm glad I got to tell him that in person. His kindness, generosity and example will continue to improve lives.
Attending a clinic by Dom in the early 90s was a game changer for me. I learned from him how enjoyable good technique is and started practising properly.
He was a huge and totally unique figure in the drumming community,
RIP Dom. Met the man a number of times at NAMM shows. Always extremely cool, upbeat, and friendly. A true ambassador for drumming. He will be missed, but he will live forever in our hearts.
Was lucky enough to see one of his clinics at Australian Ultimate Drummer's Weekend back in 2005; his joy and enthusiasm was infectious. We definitely lost one of the best.
Just read it this morning, what sad news! Love his unique style and solos.
I will always remember him as the drummer that knocked his own glasses of his nose
