Do you ever stand back from your drums...

How could you not love to look at this?

You are a sadistic @#$%!

As John said, how can you not stand back an look?

Musical instruments are beautiful things and my Gurus are eye candy, with pride of place in the middle of my lounge room like a feature sculpture.

When you look at your drums you are, in a very real way, looking at yourself. Not other instrument is so personalized as the drum set.

All the time spent finding just the right level and angle of your toms and your cymbals, the end result of all that visually is a reflection on the physical and mental you as a drummer, which I think is very interesting in a way.

Even before I started playing the drums I loved to look at drum sets. As a kid it was probably the most compelling thing I'd ever seen.

That's true Jay, a set up drumkit is a reflection of the drummer's character and personality, usually when you walk in a room and you look at the drums, you'll know if the drummer can play... 80% of the time, the way the kit is set up tells a lot about the drummer.

Having said that, it doesn't sounds good for you Dre :) :) :)

The centre of your lounge? Wow, an honour indeed :)

So true. I'm lucky enough to take that aspect to the next level. Every single detail is a realisation of a vision (no Pearl references please - damn, that's another Pearl reference - damn, done it again) ;)

As anti prejudice as I am, unfortunately, this is true most of the time, especially when there's an apparent lack of care, or obvious complete misunderstanding of how to get the instrument sounding good.

Every day. Hell, when I'm taking a few minutes to brush my teeth in the morning, I'll sit back on the couch and stare at my kit while brushing!

When I see my drums, I feel like a hormonal 12 year-old who is having his first crush. <3

Honestly, I thought I was mainly alone in the staring at the drums thing. I had no idea it was so popular. It's not something you normally say in conversation. Like last night, when I was staring at my drums....sounds kinda strange.

But they ARE beautiful. I've stared at mine sometimes for over an hour.

I couldn't tell you how many pictures I have taken of my Gretsch with my DLSR, my iPhone, my Casio Point and Shoot. I feel better now.

I knew I wasn't the only one!

I look/stare and marvel at the gear I have all the time. I have a small kit set up in my work room also, and it has 2 of the drums from my very first kit (Royce). I look at that kit too :)

I'm appreciative of ALL the gear I have been able to get over the years.

Hey, everybody posts drum porn on this forum all the time.

Is it any wonder we enjoy it live at home?!?!?

Everyone to their drum room now. Sit down, take a deep breath, enjoy!

In fact I will admit that I have my kit on my Wells Fargo Debit Card. They have an option of putting your photo of whatever on your card.
