20 years of happiness is a tall order. Just ask my ex-wives. But, IMO, ease of setup, portability, and looks mean more to me than brand. With the right heads and tuning they can all sound pretty good.

I mis-typed, the set I got was a CS Custom with the 10 lug 22" bass drum
I figured that might be it.

How do you like them? I have a set that I'm restoring. They might even be the "Elite" lacquered version. The shells are well made and the bearing edges are nice and smooth.

100% reccommend Guitar Center's used section. Lots of hidden gems to found.

MY Renown are 13 years old and we had a conversation yesterday and they and I are both happy.!! You have to be patient and continue to look for bargains. My Renown were brand new and I just happen to hit a guy moving out of town, and I got them for $600. Drums only. No hardware, no cymbals.
