Cynicism and making a living as a musician

Wow, I've never met a drummer, or any other musician who would do this. Has anyone else here had this happen?
It hasn't happened to me, but I've heard remarks to that effect about another drummer or two. It's pure sour grapes - and always from someone who doesn't have a good gig - and makes me feel like I'm doing all the right things, and without the attitude. It's not that I don't have opinions, but I can never be accused of being bitter or jealous because of another musician's success, or that fact that they have a gig on a night I don't, etc. Some of my best musician friends work more than I do, but I don't resent the bastards one bit.

How interesting. I think I'm lucky because I've never been the jealous type. I've never thought a bad thought about someone because of a gig. I've often thought "How'd he get that gig?" Mainly because I didn't know. :)
