Custom Graphic Bass Drum Heads

I am interested in a reproduction of Peart's Starman reso head used on the R30 tour or possibly from other tours. Does anyone have a source for that kind of thing?

Well, if that's the case that's unfortunate. I want it more as wall art than anything else but might put it on the studio kit for grins. Not really looking to design an original head or use the common Evans or Remo designs

Unfortunately, reproduction of artwork without permission from the owner is copyright infringement. I deal with this on a regular basis with Inked By Evans submissions.

I got mine from Vintagelogos.com and they did a great job.
Yeah, I wouldn't use the Rush one but if you find a cool design, I'd say do it....it'll make your kit look much cooler!!

+1 for Vintage Logos.
I just got a head from them and it turned out fantastic. Best custom head I ever got!
Plus it's cheaper than anything else I could find.

In the past I got them through Tour supply, they wanted like $250!
Drum Art priced it at about $125, and Vintage logos did it for $114 WITH shipping....

I'd go with DrumArt. Jim did the heads for my previous band and they were perfect and lasted for years. With my current band, I tried Inked By Evans and after 8 months, the head exploded (yeah you read that right). It split from the port right to the colar in one line. I'm not sure if it was a bad head or too much pressure from relentless pounding on a compromised head, but that's it for me. I'm not even gonna argue with the Evans people because it will come back to me anyway, so now that DrumArt offers Evans EQ3's, I'm going to them.

I went back and read some of the bad experiences people had with Inked, so now I know why they call them Stinked by Evans.

The wide consensus on this site is DrumArt, and some have also said nice things about the Inked by Evans program.
I've used both, and the quality is excellent from each. DrumArt was always a faster turn-around (maybe 7-10 days) than Evans (4 weeks, even for one of their artists!) Hopefully Evans is faster these days.

But as mentioned, a copyrighted image may be refused.

Another +1 for Vintage Logos. They are local to me and got me my head the same week I sent them the artwork.

Also, if your local library has a vinyl printer, you can print your logos yourself and apply them to a head. I did that for my Sonor Safari kit. Just make sure you apply it in a "reverse peeling" type motion and have a j-roller or an object to force out any air bubbles. Otherwise, you may end up w/ air pockets between the vinyl and your drumhead.

Look up images of fractal art. A lot of the images are royalty free (be sure to validate). Then find a company to print the artwork.

I thought Inked by Evans was expensive. Get a gift card off Amazon for $70. Mine was a custom picture using a picture I took and it turned out fantastic.

I ordered a new InkedByEvans head with my own photo background and added text on Jan 24th. I received it today. ;)
The claim 2 weeks from art approval to ship now, and it looks like they are making good on that.
