Cheesiest Music Videos from the 1980s

I disagree about this one. I think it chooses the stripper/prostitute lifestyle to illustrate the darker, seedier side of the music business. The original song was about the hard, dark parts about being a traveling musician, so I don't think it's that much of a stretch.

When she says, given the chance to start over, she would make the same choices - I think that speaks for a lot of musicians, despite the hardships and social scorn they might face.

Plus, that's Ginger Lynn! ;-)
I get that is what they were trying to do, but I think it failed horribly.

Nor that that change the stripper story has ZERO to do with the lyrics in the verses.

Particularly creepy when James sings the line "is it woman or is it man?" and it's a shot of a stripper where there is no ambiguity makes no sense.

As for my case for 'The Final Countdown'

Big hair. Hero shots. Stupid gyration. Band playing live. Screaming fans. Helicopter-shot footage. Band with gold records. Stratocasters. Big drum kit. Pyrotechnics. Lycra (Spandex). 'Woohhhmmaan' style vocals. Makeup. Sparkles. Glitter. A feeling of dread. Please make it end. The end is near. Time for the overdose.
Another vote for "The Final Countdown", I actually found it hilarious, especially when the singer appear in all his glory (glamour?), it's a classic, a bad classic, a cheesy vid and a cheesy song :)

Details, details! lol

OK, I see your point. But I don't think it is anywhere NEAR the worst video out there, haha!!

So far, that's the Billy Squier thing for me. Ugh.

I can't view all of the links below but in case it hasn't been mentioned yet, I think that Billy Squier's practically defined the bad video and questionably gay genre with his "Rock Me Tonite" video. The ripping off of the shirt. The prancing. The preening. The silk sheets.

Oh the horror.
Oh man I agree on that one. I was a sophomore in high school and Billy was the next cool rocker and then this video came out. It was amazing how quickly he went from leather-jacketed cool to pink-shirted little nancy boy.

I hate the video but man do I love the song:

The song is pure government-grade cheese, but I still sing along to it. I remember that was one of the few songs I could play on the keyboard. I expected the video to be more like Whip It, but it was refreshingly different. Besides, who doesn't like a midget?

This video may not be the cheesiest, but it is certainly the most bizarre:

I have to admit that I have a strange fondness in my heart for this song. Maybe it's nostalgia...I remember sitting at my neighbors house (we didn't have cable) and watching the launch of MTV with this video. :)
internet killed the video star...lol...i understand why they did it just wished they played a different one....lol
