Ok I have been trying to nail down which UFIP natural series China he uses on this song. I love that sound....I have always heard it was an 18" and he has been in recent years been using an 18 as his main crah abover his tom. However I saw this video and it looks like this is a 16, which is what I thought was used on the song and where i am leaning. At the 3 min mark when he grabs the cymbal it does not look 18 inches to me.
I am going to buy whatever one it is, but its hard to find a dealer to demo side by side.
So i am going by videos.....

And I dont have plans to use it as a crash....but I want that china sound I have been searching for. Anyone with more knowledge about what was used on that song specifically?

You must mean the china cymbal in this video:

If so it is made by UFIP.

Here is a picture of the cymbal from that concert.

Also here is a picture of one of Charlie's chinas'. If you go by the magazine below the cymbal you can guess what the size of the cymbal is.

Hope this helps.

I'm willing to bet he doesn't even remember what he was using on that recording

Until recently (i.e last 10 or so years), UFIP did not mark their cymbals.

When I worked GC in the early 90's, GC made a huge push with UFIP. UFIP marketing was you buy with your ears, not on what the label said. So they didn't label the cymbals with specific models. Which drove customers crazy, and made them hard to sell.

She's so Cold was recored more than 10 years before that, so I highly doubt even Charlie could tell you what present day model it was, as I doubt the one he used said any thing on it beyond the brand name.

There is a video interview of Charlie that posted on this forum a few months ago where Charlie breaks down his equipment. One thing that came up was he's had the same crashes for years and years, but he breaks his china on regular basis. EDIT: Tony posted the video I was referring to as I was typing.
