ok, i finally had a chance to let loose on my chad smith... and here is my review:
(keeping in mind my 2 regular snares are a 13x6.5 maple tuned very tight, and a 14x4 maple piccolo, also tuned very tight)
to get the snare to sound better than a standard steel snare, i had to tune it pretty high, and once i did it sounded relaly good, especially when i found that sweet spot with the rim and skin hit at the same time, and it sounded like a shotgun blast... but it was a tad overbearing to be my main snare sound, so i found myself having to reposition to accomidate finding different tones durring a song.
all in all i like it, but i need to work with it more. my 13x6.5 will remain my main snare.
