Celebrating Chick with Gadd/Weckl/Blade/Gilmore

Just thought I'd give a heads up to the group that Lincoln Center is hosting a "Celebrating Chick Corea" concert on Jan 13/14 with a who's who list of performers including Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl, Brian Blade, and Marcus Gilmore.

The new mayor says he will keep NYC open during the Omicron surge but I'm not holding my breath. Anyone know if this concert will be televised and what channel? Thanks

I've seen a ton of Lincoln Center performances on PBS. Perhaps they will pick this up too. I hope so.

Sadly i didn't get into Chick until right after he died.. I wish i had been a fan 20 years ago he (and his bands) made some truly amazing stuff. BTW.. if anyone is bored this is worth a watch just to hear the stories his bandmates share some are pretty funny..
P.S. Kinda surprised not to see Vinnie on that lineup

Great watch! I actually watched this 9 months ago but forgot or missed the intro section where Dave says it started as a trio with him and John. The CCEB footage looks like their last tour in 2018/2019 which I missed. I remember looking for dates but there weren't many. RIP

Awesome! Thank you for the heads up!.

I've seen Chick numerous times with various drummers. The last time I saw him, I went with a great friend and we saw him for a few nights when he did a long, long stint at the Blue Note (NYC) in November 2016. The nights we went, Steve Gadd was playing (who I have seen live more than any other drummer).

We saw 3 consecutive nights with 2 full length sets each night. Each night he pulled from different albums.

For sound and viewing purposes, we sat at different places in the club. They pack people in their like sardines with very little elbow room.

It was awesome. Have ton of photo and video footage as a memory. My favorite is the picture Steve allowed me to take with him.

That sounds amazing - Chick my #1 for most of my life...one of the first albums I'm conscious of remembering was "Light as a Feather" thanks to my Mom and while I was lucky enough to perform with Al DiMeola on the World Sinfonia III Tour - I never got to meet Chick or even play with him....which some part of me deep down hoped I would one day.

Hopefully they record this for later viewing - Chick was about hours away form here on tour with Brian Blade and Missed that show not too long before he passed. I would have never suspected that would be my last best chance to catch him life.

Living in LA, I was fortunate enough to see Chick a number of times, both at Catalina Jazz Club and at the Hollywood Bowl. The last time I saw him live was at Catalina’s in 2013, where his good friend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar introduced the band.
