Can't get it to work

Just got Alesis Surge kit. Trying to use it with EZ Drummer, both standalone and in Studio One 5. I've followed every video tutorial I can find on YT. I've selected all the correct settings. The software recognizes the kit when I plug it up. I can select it. I've looked at all the settings in the vids and set it to the correct stuff. I've looked on the Alesis website and there's nothing more there than is in the vids I've watched, and they only have troubleshooting guides for mac.

I've got no clue what in the world could be preventing it from triggering the software, but its just not working. I got it work for like a couple seconds the other day. No clue what made it start working, but it only worked a couple seconds then stopped. On paper, and by the book, it should be working. But its not.

What am I doing wrong?

Bad cable? What is your audio output in settings, does it make a sound if you just click on drums? You can check incoming midi data with midi monitor (mac) or midiox (pc).

It does work if I click on it. Output settings, not sure. I'll have to take a look at that

If sound is OK, I'd try another USB cable, check if any midi notes come through and maybe do a factory reset.

As far as the cable, its brand new. I just ordered it from Amazon. The PC makes the "doo doodle doo" sound when I turn on the drum kit, so its working. Plus, if the cable weren't working, my DAW would tell me that the device I selected was not plugged in. So its not the cable. I've got no clue why its not triggering.

Check with midi monitor, mapping could be off, but unlikely, should work by default. Do a module reset. If under warranty, contact Alesis.
If you can, try another PC or another VST, too.
