Blindly buying sticks

If they can't even part with a pair of sticks for review, I'd have nothing to do with them.

Hell, I had a guy who was trying to market a new bass drum pedal give me one to try on a temporary basis! And they can't part with one pair of sticks??? No thanks.

It never entered my mind until I started using maple. Maple sticks + coated heads = sharpened pencils in no time.

I bought a pair of On Stage 5b maple just to try them out. Good size without the weight. Like a 5a & a half.
Not too durable, but they were cheap enough not to worry about it.

I really like maple. It makes the darker cymbals sound great. I just deal with the wear. I need to find a good way to repurpose the used sticks!

Noticed that Gretsch alloy hoops have narrow, vertical edge rather than the flat top of steel hoops.
Isn't that just destructive to sticks for rimshots?
