BLACK FRIDAY

Why are we not all talking about this yet??

Who plans to get what for cheap cheap cheap on Friday?

The kinds of things I buy aren't usually included in sales like Black Friday, After Christmas, etc. For example, a $300 ProScan TV for $97 is probably a great deal, except I wouldn't be buying the ProScan in the first place. And the Christmas presents I buy are purchased well in advance of such buying frenzies. Going to stores this weekend, or really at almost any time before New Year's, is just insanity. I'm staying off the streets!

I can't stand Black Friday...the crowds, the traffic, the greed. Sheesh! We spend a day being thankful for what we have, and then the next day the news is filled with stories of people physically assaulting each other over things they want to buy!

I will say, though, that I LOVE the time between Christmas and Valentine's Day, because Craigslist is the most full of music gear during that time...

I'm too full right now - of both food and gear. LOL

Actually, there are a couple of music gear related things I'm thinking about, but I hate fighting crowds.

Like Bermuda says, the best overall generic deals seem to be in consumer electronics. I don't use too much of that stuff, and already have plenty of what I do use.

I too love this time, it's also a great time to get gift cards. Last year I got a guitar center gift card that had $200 on it for $125 cash..

I'm just gonna go blow all of my money at the local record store/annex since it's also record store day and I'll get a bunch of vinyl for cheap!

No fighting the crowds for me on Black Friday either. Maybe I'll just go to the casino...gotta figure I've got just as good odds at the slots as I do of actually getting one of those crazy deals in the store and a lot less crazy people. I'd probably spend less than most of those Black Friday zealots too!

Or maybe I'll just stay home and bang on my drums....

I too have to work tomorrow and if I didn't, I would donate my time anyway just so I wouldn't be tempted by all the madness.

I typed this while sitting second in line outside of Best Buy waiting for their doors to open.

Just kidding. :)

I made the mistake a few years ago of offering to go to Toys R Us on a Black Friday when they opened so I could snag a Harley Davidson Barbie for my sister in law. She wanted it for her daughter, my niece. She had to work and I had some time in the morning so I said, Hey no problem Deb, I'll pick one up for you....Well the line snaked up and down a few aisles, out the door, down the street, all the way to the turnpike, and clear up to the Poconos. The whole time I'm hitting my forehead with the heel of my palm saying "Stupid Stupid Stupid!"

After that fiasco, I vowed I would never attend a Black Friday event. Everyone knows the best time to shop is December 24th at 3 PM lol.

The very worst of our American culture comes out in the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas IMO. Consumerism and outright greed and materialism and corporate brainwashing are all at an all time high then.

Personally I hate shopping and I would rather poke needles in my eyes then go out to Malls and such on Black Friday! ;) Besides I am a worker bee and spent my Thanksgiving at the grocery store I work at and will be back on Black Friday. Happy Holiday one and all.

Now how, no way am I getting in that mess today. Too many stupid, inconsiderate, greedy morons out there!

It's really sad that retail workers Thanksgivings are ruined with corporate greed making workers come in at ridiculous hours to be the first to take the almighty dollar. While the idiots who make the decisions to be open stay home and enjoy time with their families. Just burns me up!!!

Agreed, except I feel that way 52 weeks of the year. Only go grocery shopping because my family has to eat.

My child doesn't get a gift - Christmas or Birthday - if it can't be ordered online and delivered to my doorstep.

I don't think it's sad at all..It's sad that they cannot work 40hrs a week but thats a whole different argument not meant for this forum. If I was to take a job with a firework company I would not complain that I had to work every 4th of july as that is when they make their money.
