We're on our own for parts and sounds, with only two exceptions: there was a track 20+ years ago that was basically donated by the writer/producer
Just out of curiosity, was that Beverly Hillbillies? I remember reading that Mark Knopfler played on that one.

Also congratulations on everything. You guys have really taken over the world this week!

Nope, we did the Money For Nothing track, but Mark and Guy Fletcher were nice enough to play on it!

Here's a twist - my brother joined up with Knopfler (on guitar) around 1994, and currently has the drums I used on our MFN track!

For reference, here are the 5 originals parodied on the record:

Fancy - Iggy Azalea (Handy)
Royals - Lorde (Foil)
Blurred Lines - Robin Thicke (Word Crimes)
Radioactive - Imagine Dragons (Inactive)
Happy - Pharrell Williams (Tacky)

Speaking for the clueless, thank you. I can honestly say that I was not familiar with any of these. I can also say that I didn't enjoy any of them and the first three we're fingersnails-on-chalkboard irritating.

But then, I belong to a music demographic that no one cares about anymore so it's perfectly understandable. I will just go back to listening to Zappa, King Crimson, Jean Luc Ponty, Eberhard Weber and old Mike Oldfield tunes. And the less I say about Stravinsky and Bartok, well that's probably for the better.

Kept it simple, not even a crash needed, and I already had a mic inside the kick - the audio guy loved me!

I didn't get to see the entire show, I don't have cable/sat. But I suspected I was in there at the end. The shoot was based on the video somewhat - one continuous camera shot - based on the "24 Hours of Happy" concept, but I'm not sure if it was his idea or theirs.

We chatted with Conan beforehand, he was quite funny, and of course tall, but he's really thin. You don't get a sense of that on the screen.

Not the Signet kick on this one. They only offer 20 & 22", and the "Ché Al" head is 24", made for my touring kit.

You really nailed that drum part on Conan Jon. It sounded like a backing track it was so spot on.

I also have to give you major props for being in a band that goes back to the 70's....with all the original members. Not many bands can say that. The Stones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weird Al.

Seems to me there's a lot more social commentary built into these songs than in earlier Weird Al stuff...or is it just that I'm getting better at listening?

Nah, just still having fun with lyrics, but able to find topics/fads that more people are familiar with because of the reach of the net.
