bearing edge frustration

I have been really frustrated with my PDP bearing edges
especially on my twelve inch tom
there is a flat place on it where one of my lugs is
it makes tuning very very difficult
anyone else have this same problem?

and I don't think it has addressed any of my problems

don't get me wrong, I still love my drums

I would consider that an extreme defect and would do everything I can to get the tom replaced by pdp.

hmmmmm, 1 post about bearing edge problems, 1 post about tuning issues, and 5 posts mentioning CX quality control issues. If you bought your drums from a drumstore. Your PDP warranty: This warranty protects the original retail purchaser, only. If a covered product or component fails due to a manufacturing or material defect, Pacific will repair or replace the product at no charge. To obtain Warranty service, return the product to your authorized Pacific Drums Dealer along with your original proof of purchase. In the case that the dealer is unable to correct a warranty defect, the dealer will then contact Pacific for further instructions and to obtain a Return Authorization (RA) number. No shipments will be accepted without an RA number. Any and all shipping charges are the responsibility of the purchaser.

This Warranty does not apply to 1) drums purchased from a source other than an authorized Pacific Drums dealer, 2) any owner other than the original purchaser, 3) defects caused by neglect, moisture, extreme temperatures, handling, shipping or use under normal playing conditions, 4) alterations made after the product leaves the factory and 5) drumheads. Pacific Drums and Percussion shall not be liable for incidental, consequential or other damages that may arise as a result of or related to any defect or failure of this product. This Warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights which vary from state to state. Pacific Drums and Percussion’s maximum liability pursuant to this warranty is limited to the monetary value of the product that is the subject of the warranty claim.

You bought a used kit with out checking it out? A used PDP ?? Wow.....
What has GC said about the issue? They sold you a defective used product. I would think they would do SOMETHING to help you out. Try crying. : ^ P PDP might do something for you if you contact them. It's not like they don't know there is a QC issue and you might be a future customer. Nothing to loose by asking.

Dude,

Many times when you buy used, you buy as is. Check your receipt or the GC website to see what their return policy is.

I'm not going to bust you balls for not thoroughly examining the kit before purchasing. To late for that. I know how stoked I get when I get new toys.

Here is the return policy for GC:

If for any reason you're not completely satisfied with your purchase1, simply return it in its original condition within 30 days (14 days on certain items2), and we'll give you a full refund. It's that simple. Just return it along with your receipt, manual and all original packaging for exchange or refund.

Due to certain legal and health restrictions, computer software (copyright legislation mandates no returns on opened software), books, videos, CDs, harmonicas, internal earphones, earplugs, and microphones are exempt from this policy. Computers, DJ cartridges and styli, fog fluid, cleaning products, opened strings, tubes are also exempt, as are any items special ordered from a manufacturer for a specific customer. If you are beyond the time frame for the policy, go talk to the manager and see if there is anything he can do - you never know.

If that doesn't work, give PDP a call. You've got nothing to lose.

If GC and PDP can't assist you, then find a local drum smith or you can send it to Precision Drums to have the bearing edges re-cut.

thanks for the advice guys
but I've pretty much sound a good way to tune it
it sounds nice for now
I might contact pdp to see if there is anything they can do
but I really don't think this is really a problem to get too upset about

and to the guy who said that I should've looked a little closer when I got it

I looked as close as my knowledge of the drums back then let me look (I grew up with terrible drums with completely evident problems)
I bought it a few months ago and as I've messed with different tunings and really taken good looks at my drums, I've begun to notice problems like that. but with the knowledge of the drums I have gained in the past few months, I know what to look for in my next set (which will be a while until I get on)

but thank you everyone for the advice
