Hi, can you help here please. Should the curved edge of a bass drum hoop face out or inwards against the skin? Both edges are not painted, so not sure which way they are meant to go. Please can you help here. Thanks!
Nice one thank you!The curved edge always faces out. The flat(ter) edge always goes up against the aluminum hoop of the drum head.
I have a hard time picturing the heavy Tama claws bending from a rounded wood hoop. I think those are some type of cast metal.I wouldn't be so sure ; I used to owned a Tama Rockstar where all the claws were bent because the former owner faced the curved side outward, and the Tama claws are flat.
My answer : if the claws are rounded : round outward, if the claws are flat : flat outward.
