Any guesses how high this will go?

Looks like a 1966 Ludwig Jazz Festival in near mint condition with original heads and case. I'd love to have it but I have a feeling it's going to go for a lot of $. My guess.....$490.00. "To the moon Alice!"

I was thinking it'll top out just over $400, maybe $425. I've seen too many crazy high numbers on inferior condition drums though....

The problem with goodwill is that they don't ship (at least they didn't whenever I checked). The highest bidder is going to have to get someone local to pick it up.

Just saw a new one at Starving for $799.
So who knows?

It's up to $351.00 with nine hours to go! If I had a Ludwig shell pack in red sparkle I'd probably snag it. Jazz Festivals from the 60's in that condition are pretty rare. Anyway, I'm out.

Folks are brave bidding that much on a used, old, un-inspectable drum. $451 to deal with this potential issue, no thanks:

I'd like to hear a 'snare shootout' of the coveted Jazz Festival with other $450 drums.
I wonder as an iconic drum, if it appears on less studio recordings than an Acro.

Case in point, but with Ludwigs anything could happen. I've a Ludwig tom with even worse bearing edges (nicks and dents like these are everywhere all along) but the funny thing is, it sounds just fine. I'm in no doubt that a new bearibg edge (or a new Legacy shell) would sound much better, though.

It may sound fine. I'm just not the guy who spends good money on something used without inspecting it first. Especially when the photo looks to potentially have some damage. The rering at 1 o'clock looks separated. There is a definite buldge.

As for original heads, we have no way of knowing if they ever came off, or if these are in fact the original heads. Old heads can be found and replaced.
