Ant’s Eye View

Anyone from Cymbalholic remember that thread? It was a great counterpoint to trashman’s immortal Bird’s Eye View thread. Can’t remember who started the AEV thread on CH, but here’s a new take on it.

Pregame pic from the gig tonight. We’re up in about 30 minutes. I’m trying to find ways of taking pics of the same boring setup and somehow make it a bit more interesting. Not sure if I’ve succeeded or not but it’s worth a shot.

Maybe some others here want to get their old bones down on the floor and get a different angle to share? 🤪

The frequent flyer is lifting off!
 Yessir, my take on a FF or New Yorker rig! I went even skinnier on mine, with a 10” deep X 20” diameter bass drum.

Didn’t need it for this gig, but it was in the car from last night and I was too lazy to swap it out for one of my larger bass drums. It got to 114F today in Bakersfield so any unnecessary movements didn’t get done. 🥵

Mick to Charlie..no mount tonight?.
A man after my own heart. Loves me some Stones, especially Mick Taylor-era, @Bozozoid! No mounted tom tonight (or most of the time, actually). I don’t use it enough to warrant bringing one. I’ve actually been thinking about forcing myself to bring one more often, if for no other reason than to justify owning the two I have. LOL

@jda Is that an original spur mount? Surprised it's upside down.

I agree, even though I only have the "ahem" Gretsch RN2 at the moment. Hope to move up the ladder at some point.

I been lucky Gretsch were all around just had to know when where and how.. to look.

I remember seeing a Blue Spruce 5 pc Arkansas era 70s set in a rock club/bar once; it was incredible.. long ago..
Blue Spruce finish
Also there was a guy in Pittsburgh who had a Forest Green SqB set a finish I never saw again but saw him and it often. It was all power toms and 18x18 bass... in a Green I've never seen then and since
