Am I the Oldest Young Drummer on this Forum?

I’ll be 39 in next days, I hope for a full life.

This thread is seriously great!

Thanks for pointing me in the direction to all the hip cats!

I’ve always gravitated to your seniority council and absorb all I can.

Growing up, I’d much rather sit with the coffee drinkers than my peers at a cafe at the cool table.

That is such an awesome compliment, thank you so much... I love hearing from the younger generation as well. I also appreciate all the awesome stories from Days Gone By that I've learned throughout my lifetime that I may pass them on to the younger generation. At heart I took right after my mom and dad I use to listen to there many stories and I love listening to my then-senior stories. Never did I think in a million years that I would be sharing my stories and someone appreciating them.

I wouldn't know how to access this because I'm new to the Forum but this morning I posted some history of World War ll and shared photos of the German Nazi flag signed When The War ended and my Private 1st Class Dad had taken it home... for sure it's a piece of History.

And by the way, I hope you have a very happy and blest birthday! Just Keep on Drummin'!

I remember when I was young- actually no I don’t I’m drawing a blank. Well I use to be young and can’t believe I sold out to be old and the enemy mine. Should have resisted and fought it better trying to understand/control the Hayflick-(Moorehead) limit (discover the fountain) back in 82-84. Heck now old folks are trying to grow younger with blood plasma infusions from young people-freaking vampires.

At 61, I'm probably amongst the oldest Andys on the forum, yet I had an unexpected kick up the rear tonight. Mrs Andy dictated I practice at least 30 minutes / day for the next 2 weeks. She's observed that I'm falling behind the progress the band is making.

She thinks I'm resting on my oldness, using time poor as an excuse, & winging it too much. Must admit, I didn't see that truth bomb coming :(

Well Andy nothing like a good woman to keep you honest my friend. But I’d just as soon hear it from anyone but my wife tbh LOL.

So as an old married guy I have to ask- What was your response?

I was the same way...always wanted to join in the adult topics...when I became a real adult, i went backwards to escape when I was actually a part of the topics on a day to day basis

Just a whippersnapper over here at 31!
I'd be happy to keep playing as long as you geezers!

I remember when I was in my teens, and starting to play out, and going to see bands play, and I would always see the "old man" bands opening for regional acts or whatever. I always wondered if I woud still be playing at that age...I did not really expect it to happen honestly...but here it is

I just hope I am not as bad at playing as a lot of those guys, and especially don't look or dress like they did...

I'm already 70.

I would think that would be quite a task. Back in the Stone Age when we started playing, it wasn't "ladylike" for women to play drums.

Also, women drummers always got that insult, "You're pretty good for a girl." I'm sure it discouraged women from playing drums. I have to admit I said that once, to a girl drummer I met at college. I found her threatening for some stupid reason.

Shirley, if you're reading this, my apologies.

I hate to admit it but some of the women out there are better than some of the men I have seen... and I've seen a lot of drummers.
