Fanny was so far ahead of their time, and they came along at a point where female bands were little more than a novelty. There were actually quite a few female bands that sprang up in the wake of The Beatles in the mid to late '60s, like The Pleasure Seekers in Detroit, that included the Quatro sisters, but very few of them went any farther than their local scenes. There are compilation CDs out there of Texas female bands, for instance. I don't have any of them in my collection, but have heard some of the tunes. Most of them sounded pretty amateurish, but those girls in Fanny were a big step above most of them in terms of talent and ability. I'm glad they're finally getting recognition.
