A Good Exercise and Funk Fill.....

I like this to develop the "weak" hand, and it makes a good fill around the kit too at tempos around 100BPM....as with all exercises, start slow and build it up to fast and smooth!

Play two paradiddle-diddles, then a single paradiddle, then two more paradiddle-diddles and a single paradiddle, etc., etc.....the exercise causes the rudiments to be thrown to the opposite hand every time the single paradiddle is played. Try accenting different notes, like the starting note of each paradiddle group, then try other accents....

When you get it really even, it's good for the weak hand development, and when you play it on the kit, you can keep one stick on the floor tom, and one on the first rack tom, it sounds "big" and it sounds cool. It's a great fill for some funk songs, especially "Tower of Power' type of tempos, like "Squib Cakes" or "Funkifize", etc.....
