5 Drummer Experiment Downtown...Wowwy!

What a blast you must have had.

I have done it with 3 of us at the GC one day. Way toooo much fun.
 
Completely not serious, haha. A couple of us are pro/semi pro session and live guys and the others are local dudes, but all pretty good drummers. There were a few around that were insulted I didn't call them though; probably another 3 or 4 would have come if invited.

A couple days before I started asking them if they wanted to do it, low and behold everyone showed up. We just messed around. The first day it was just completely improv, the 2nd day we were more subdued and did rotating solo 8-bars, which I prefered, but the energy in this one was pretty cool.

We're thinking about doing it again with even more drummers, in a different location, should be interesting to see what we can come up with.

Thanks for the interest guys, don't be afraid to rate and comment on youtube. The dude that put it up completely tagged it improperly, but as an experiment I'd like to see how many people we can show it to inside a week. It had 35 views this morning.

it would have been better if they gave each other time to mess around.
everyone was soling at the same time. they should treat it like a real band and designate some backbone.

Kinda reminds me of a drum battle we have at school every year, 8 to 12 drummers with solos, vamp solos, waves of beats and stuff like that, its a lot of fun and its just a time where you can show off what you can do, I'll try to get the next one on video, but its only in like June.
 
Awesome. Ive always wanted to do something like that. Thanks for the inspiration.
 
Not sure exactly when we're doing it next, but it will happen at some point. If not this, something else cool.
 
That's sick, I want to do something like that in my town too.

No permit, we just set up and played. If anyone had complained we'd just say we were "drums for jesus" or something. They can't prevent a religious gathering of more than 3 people. It depends on your city's bylaws though. Good times.

Yeah it sounds especially crazy because the camera guys cut it all jagged instead of cutting it on the beats. The grooves near the end are more how it sounded from the audience. Generally there was only one person soloing at a time, but because the camera was on that person, it was louder than everything else. Also try to keep in mind it was completely unrehearsed. If we'd rehearsed something it would have sounded more polished, but it wouldn't have been as exciting.
 
Hey that is great...looks like it was a blast. Work on the camera guy and editing! Looks to me like you guys were in the street @ some sort of festival with all the canopy's erected? So, you guys just crashed that party is that it?
